چکیده
Abstract There is an unexplained male predominance in the incidence of esophageal (EAC) and non-cardia gastric adenocarcinoma (GAC) which cannot be explained by known risk factors. Differences exposures to sex hormones may play a part observed difference. This study aimed test hypothesis that androgens increase EAC, cardia GAC, GAC. We analysed matched cohort based on national Swedish database prostate cancer patients. Methods Prostate patients receiving androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) were exposed group. cancer-free men from general population randomly selected index case birth year county residence, forming unexposed control The participants followed until diagnosis or cancer, death, emigration, end period. adenocarcinoma, squamous-cell carcinoma among ADT-exposed compared was calculated multivariable Cox proportional hazard regression. ratios 95% confidence intervals adjusted for confounders. Results reduction ADT-users non-users (HR 0.49 [95% CI 0.24–0.98]). No such decreased found 1.17 0.60–2.32]), 0.99 0.40–2.46]), squamous cell 0.31–3.13]). Conclusion indicates decreases while no carcinoma.

Risk of the "androgen deprivation syndrome" in men receiving androgen deprivation for prostate cancer.
BACKGROUND Androgen deprivation therapy for prostate cancer has been associated with a spectrum of adverse effects, such as depression, memory difficulties, and fatigue, termed the androgen deprivation syndrome. Primary care physicians providing follow-up care for men with prostate cancer will be faced with managing these effects. We therefore sought to estimate the incidence of these effects a...
متن کاملRisk factors for bone loss with prostate cancer in Korean men not receiving androgen deprivation therapy.
PURPOSE Preexisting bone loss in men with prostate cancer is an important issue due to the accelerated bone loss during androgen deprivation therapy (ADT). In addition, a high prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level has been reported to be related to bone metabolism. This study assessed the factors associated with osteoporosis in Korean men with non-metastatic prostate cancer before undergoing AD...
متن کاملCardiovascular Disease Risk Factors: How Relevant in African Men With Prostate Cancer Receiving Androgen-Deprivation Therapy?
PURPOSE Cardiovascular disease risk factors have been associated with androgen-deprivation therapy (ADT) in white and Hispanic populations. It is therefore relevant to determine if there exists a relationship between these parameters in the African population. PATIENTS AND METHODS The design of the study was cross sectional. Prostate-specific antigen concentration, waist circumference, body m...

Each of the primary treatment options for prostate cancer is associated with significant side effects that can have a dramatic impact on quality of life. متن کاملResistance exercise in men receiving androgen deprivation therapy for prostate cancer.
PURPOSE Androgen deprivation therapy is a common treatment in men with prostate cancer that may cause fatigue, functional decline, increased body fatness, and loss of lean body tissue. These physical changes can negatively affect health-related quality of life. Resistance exercise may help to counter some of these side effects by reducing fatigue, elevating mood, building muscle mass, and reduc...
